Relieving Pain with Essential Oils

I stood gaping in amazement.  Could something as simple as essential oils really relieve pain so quickly?

The whole shelf fell out of the refrigerator and something smashed my middle toe.  It hurt so bad I thought it was broken.  After hobbling about while I cleaned up the mess of broken bottles, I grabbed a bag of frozen vegetables to ice my toe, which was already throbbing and turning black and blue.

Applying the cold didn’t have any effect, and I was coming to the conclusion that the toe must be broken.  But wait!  I just got a starter kit of essential oils, and my friend had told me some of them could be used for pain.  Well, okay, I’ll give them a try.  I applied a drop of Cypress oil to my toe and it felt better right away.  Then added a drop of Pan-Away oil, and 90% of the pain was gone INSTANTLY!  I could hardly believe it!  I wiggled the toe.  A little bit tender, but no pain.  I was able to move it freely.  And the bruising and swelling were already gone too.  I was so amazed, I stood there staring with my jaw dropped open.

Essential oils, known as nature’s living energy, are the natural, aromatic volatile liquids found in shrubs, flowers, trees, roots, bushes, and seeds. The distinctive components in essential oils defend plants against insects, environmental conditions, and disease. They are also vital for a plant to grow, live, evolve, and adapt to its surroundings. Essential oils are extracted from aromatic plant sources via steam distillation, and are highly concentrated and far more potent than dry herbs.

While essential oils often have a pleasant aroma, their chemical makeup is complex and their benefits vast—which makes them much more than something that simply smells good.
Historically, essential oils have played a prominent role in everyday life. With more than 200 references to aromatics, incense, and ointments throughout the Bible, essential oils are said to be used for anointing and healing the sick. Today, essential oils are used for aromatherapy, massage therapy, emotional health, personal care, nutritional supplements, household solutions, and much more.
